Description

The Access to Information Act gives Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and any person or corporation present in Canada a right to access records of government institutions that are subject to the Act. This course will provide clarity on roles and responsibilities of the Office of Primary Interest (OPI) and tools on how program areas should respond to an Access to Information (ATI) Request.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Interpret ATI tasking retrieval emails and identify the actions required;
• Respond accurately and appropriately to ATI requests within established timelines;
• Provide clear and appropriate justifications to support responses to ATI requests;
• Identify where and how to document responses and justifications using the appropriate tools.
