This course provides an overview of the roles and responsibilities of public servants in processing access to information and privacy (ATIP) requests, how to process access to information and privacy requests, and an overview of privacy breaches.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Explain the spirit of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act;
• Define terminology related to ATIP;
• Describe the requirements of both Acts and the duty to assist the requester;
• Identify the consequences of non-compliance with the Acts;
• Outline the timelines and processes related to document retrieval and justifications provided;
• Apply best practices for managing task requests.
