Description
The Operational Data Store (ODS) is a database that allows Shared Services Canada (SSC) to manage all physical and virtual IT assets of the Government of Canada. Each SSC branch is responsible for managing their own hardware assets and configuration items (CIs.
This course will help you get ready to use the ODS. You may request an ODS account when you successully completing this course.

After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of the ODS
- Explain the ODS users’ responsibilities to ODS data security
- Distinguish between several types of operational data including Foundation Data, Hardware Asset (HWA) and Configuration items (CI)
- Explain how data is automated and synchronized
- Access and log into the ODS
- Distinguish between three types of ODS working environments
- Distinguish between the Asset Management and Operation Data Management tabs
- Use the Data Administration tab to view foundation data objects in the ODS
- Manage user preferences
- Search and query records in the ODS
- Claim a hardware asset and a configuration item in the ODS
