This session is offered by the Duty to Accommodate Centre of Expertise (DTA CoE) for all SSC employees to increase awareness around the duty to accommodate, the process and best practices, and to better understand how the Government of Canada Workplace Accessibility Passport can facilitate conversations regarding the implementation of accommodation measures.
Learning Objectives
This session will allow participants to:
• Increase their knowledge of key principles and best practices of the employer’s duty to accommodate
• Understand the difference between the duty to accommodate and exceptions as indicated in the TBS Direction on Prescribed Presence in the Workplace
• Learn about the duty to accommodate process steps
• Better understand the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders involved in the accommodation process
• Understand how the Government of Canada Workplace Accessibility Passport can facilitate conversations concerning accommodation needs
• Understand the role of SSC’s Duty to Accommodate Centre of Expertise in the accommodation process and the support it can provide to management and to employees during the process
